(二)句型结构

1.Sounds too good to be true?
听上去好得让人难以置信?
该句省略了主语"it".在英语中,标题或引言常应用省略的形式以求句子简练,中心突出。


(1)sound: seem when heard 听起来,表示感官的动词如:look, seem, appear, sound, taste, smell, feel等均可作系动词,用于主-系-表结构,但具有被动的意义。
[例句] Her voice sounds sweet.她的声音听起来很甜美。
His idea sounds like a good one. 他的主意听起来是个好主意。
It sounds as if there is a knock at the door.听起来好象有人敲门。
注意:sound 后可跟表语形容词,但不能跟副词。

(2)too…to do 太…..以致不能,其动词不定式有否定意义。
[例句] He is too old to do the job. 他太老了,做不了这个工作。
注意:它的变体意义:not/never to…to 并非太……而不能做某事;all too…to 实在太;be only too glad/pleased to 求之不得;too… not to 很不会不
[例句] I'm not too busy to come. 我不是忙得来不了。
The holiday was all too short. 假期真是太短了。
I'm only too happy to be with you. 很高兴能和你们在一起。
The child is too clever not to understand your point.这孩子很聪明,不会不明白你的意思。



2.This is not necessarily the case,however.(Line 3)
然而事实并非这样。


(1)necessarily: unavoidably 必然,当然。
[例句] Rich people are not necessarily happy.富人未必快乐。
(2)however: nevertheless 然而,可是。副词兼连词,在句中的位置很灵活,既可放在句中,也可放在句首或句尾,用逗号隔开。
[例句] She, however, stopped at once,and hailed him.然而她立即停了下来向他打招呼。
My aunt Jennifer is thirty--five years old. However, she often appears on the stage as a young girl.我姨妈詹妮弗已35岁了,然而她经常在舞台上扮演年轻姑娘。



3.It is important to set aside time for relaxation, hobbies, and entertainment as well. (Lines 11-12)
重要的是,给休息、业余爱好和娱乐留出一定的时间。


[句型] It's important to do sth. 在本句中动词不定式用作主语,放在句尾,it起形式主语的作用。类似的结构有:
It's hard to finish it in time. 要及时完成这件事很难。
It's impossible for a beginner to get everything perfectly right.一个初学者不可能把每样东西都掌握好。


4.But it will make you more aware of how you spend your time.(Line 13)
但是(周计划表)可以使你更清楚的知道你是怎样使用时间的。


1) [句型]:make sb. aware of…使……意识到,使……注意到;该句属于SVOC句型(主-动-宾-宾补),形容词作宾补,说明宾语的状态。可用于本句型的动词有:find, like, get, turn, drive, keep, have, hold, make, etc.
[例句]:I like my tea strong. 我喜欢喝浓茶。
Her consideration made the old man warm. 她的体贴使老人感到很温暖。
(2)(be) aware of/that 意识到,注意到;
[说明]:be aware of+名词或wh-从句;be aware that+从句
[例句] He is aware of the danger. 他已经意识到了危险。
The president was awere of what had happened. 校长已知道发生了什么事。
We are aware that there will be many difficulties.我们很清楚将会有很多困难。



5.It will enable you plan your activities so that you have adequate time for both work and play.(lines 14-15)
而且它能是你计划好你的活动,是你有足够的时间工作,也有足够的时间娱乐。


[句型]:so that (1)引导目的状语从句,相当于in order that "以便"。目的状语从句中有时可以省略so。
[例句]:I hired a boat (so )that I could go fishing.为了去钓鱼,我租了条船。
Speak loudly (so) that they may hear you.为了让他们听得到,请大声说。
从句若为否定结构,谓语多用should not 构成。
[例句]:He looked down so that she should not see his eyes. 他低头往下看,好不让她看到自己的眼睛。
so that(2)引导结果状语从句,表示"以致于,使得,因此"。 结果状语从句中""
前常用逗号和主句分开。结果状语从句中有时可以省略that。
[例句]:I got up early, so (that) I caught the train.



6.As you preview the material, you get some idea of the content and how it is organized.
(line 21-22)
在预习资料时,你会对内容大意和组织结构有一些了解。


[说明]:该句中as 引导时间状语从句。主句中"the content"和how 引导的从句都做介词of的宾语。idea 在此为不可数名词,表示"理解,了解"。常用短语:have no idea 不知道;form an idea of 产生……的想法。



7.Skimming helps double your reading speed and improves your comprehension as well.
(line 24-25)
略读不仅是你的阅读速度提高一倍,而且还有助于提高理解力。


[说明]:句中skimming 动名词作主语,helps ,improves 为并列的谓语。double 为不带to 的不定式作help的宾语。help(to)do; 有助于
[例句] All these help improve your study habits .所有这一切有助于提高你的学习习惯。
Customers' criticisms help to improve the service work .顾客的评价有助于改进服务工作。



8.Listening to what the teacher says in class means less work later.(line 26-27)
课堂上注意听讲意味着可后少费功夫。
本句是动名词短语用作主语,谓语动词用单数,其中what 引导从句作listen to 宾语,less 的原形为 a little.



9. Go over your notes as soon as you can after class.(line 29)
课后要尽早复习。


[句型] as ...as one can 尽力,尽可能。
[例句] You should give me an answer as early as you can .你尽早给我答复。
The boy would read over the story book as quickly as he could before dinner.
那个男孩赶在吃饭前尽早把这本书看完。



10.Review important points mentioned in class as well as points you remain confused about.(line30)
不仅要复习课堂上老师提到的重点,还要复习那些你仍然感到糊度不清的知识。


[说明]:该句 mentioned in class 为过去分词作后置定语,修饰 points; you remain confused about 是定语从句修饰 points , 关系代词省略。 注意:定语从句中的介词 about 不能省掉,因为先行词points 同它有动宾关系。在整个句子中由 as well as (相当于and)所连接的两个并列成分作动词review 的宾语。


11. The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject.
(line 37-38)
测试的目的在于显示你对本课掌握的程度。


[说明]:be 动词加不定式构成本句的系表部分,what 引导的从句作动词show的宾语。
句型:be +to do 表示命令,打算,安排。
[句型] You are not to smoke here.不要在此吸烟。
We were to be married last month ,but I was ill.我们原定上个月结婚,但我病了。



12.Tests provide grades, but they also let you know what you need to spend more time studying, and they help make your new knowledge permanent.(line 39-41)
考试要评出分数,但考试也让你知道在哪方面你需要多花时间学习,并且考试还有助于巩固新知识。


[说明]:句中but ,and 引导两个并列句,but 引导的并列句中what 从句作know 的宾语,并且关系代词what 在从句中为need 的宾语。在and 引导的并列句中形容词permanment 为knowledge的宾语补足语。
[句型] spend.....doing (sth)花费……干什么(事)
[例句] Like most elderly people ,we spent most of the evening talking about old times.
象大部分上年纪的人那样,我们晚上大部分时间都用来谈过去。
The girl spent several hours learning to swim. 那女孩花了数小时学游泳。
