（二）句型结构
1. But now some people are taking a fresh look at daydreaming.

但是现在有些人对白日梦有了信的看法（即不再仅仅看到他的坏处）。

2. Attitudes towards daydreaming are changing in much the same way that attitudes towards night dreaming have changed.

就像人们对夜间做梦态度发生了变化一样，人们对白日梦的态度也发生了变化。
1） In much the same way that=in much the same way in which 。本课中类似的句子还有：

2)The way可引导状语，表语，宾语，主语从句.
The little boy speaks in the way that reminds me of his father. (引导状语)这小男孩说话的方式让我像起他的爸爸。
That's often the way that some children treat their parents when the latter get old. (表语从句)当他们的父母老了的时候，有些孩子就常常用这种方式对待他们。
I don't like the way the salesgirl greets me. (引导定语) 我不喜欢那女店员招呼我的方式。
The way he says is often contrary to the way he actually does. (引导定语)他说的与他的实际上做的经常是相反的。

3. But then researchers tried interrupting the dreams of sleepers.

但后来研究人员试着打断睡眠者做梦。
1）try＋名词，动名词或从句，意为试验，试用，尝试等。
例：My doctor advised me to try a new medicine.医生建议我试试一种新药。
You should try using another method if this one doesn't work.。如果这种方法不行，你应该试着用另一种方法。
Stand up and try how far you can walk.站起来试试你能走多远。
2）try to do意为试图，事发，尽力做某事。
如：I tried to explain but he didn't want to listen.我试图解释，但是他不像听。
I'll try to get rid of this bad habit.我要尽力改掉这个坏习惯。

4. But this benefits go beyond this.

但是他的好处并不仅限与此。
Go beyond：be greater than,exceed,surpass.
例：The cost of the damage went beyond our worst expectation.损坏的价值超过了我们最坏的预想。
Her beauty goes beyond all the descriptions of her.她的美丽超出了对她的所有描述。

5. A number of psychologists have conducted experiments and have reached some surprising conclusion.

一些心理学家已经进行过试验，得出了一些令人吃惊的结论。
1) make/do/carry out/perform/conduct an experiment 做试验
2) come to/reach/draw a conclusion 得出结论
3) jump to conclusions/jump at conclusions 草率/武断地下结论

Story：事情，情况，真相。
Crime is increasing in the city,and it's the same story in the countryside.城里的犯罪在增多，乡下的情况也是这样。

这个句子的前半部分是一个祈使句，相当于If you hold a picture of yourself。 课文中类似的句子还有：

Tell （from）：（常与can，could，be able to连用）辨别，分辨
例：Sometimes even the parents couldn't tell the twin brothers apart.有时甚至连父母都分不清这对孪生兄弟谁是谁。
Some people cannot tell blue color from green color.有些人分辨不清蓝色与绿色。

10. Go over all the details of this picture.

把这幅画中的细节逐一细想一番。
Go over ：examine，review
例：He went over the accounts very thoroughly but couldn't find any mistakes.他从头到尾检查了一遍帐目，可是没有发现任何错误。
I want to go over the arrangements for the wedding to make sure that everything will be ready on time.我打算检查一遍为婚礼所作的各项安排，以确保一切将按时准备就绪。
Shall we go over your English exercises together?咱们一起复习你的英语练习好吗？

11. But in combination with the more usual methods of self-development,it might make a critical difference.

但如果与更为平常的自我提高的方法相结合，它就可能起到关键性的作用。
In combination with：与……相结合，与……相联合
例：In combination with enough rest,this medicine will cure your cold in five days.结合足够的休息，这种药会在五天内只好你的感冒。

12. It could be the difference between becoming merely good at something and becoming a champion.

它可能会决定是仅仅擅长做某事，还是成为冠军。
这里的it指daydreaming。这句话的意思是，没有白日梦，你也许仅仅是擅长做某事，但是如果加上做白日梦你可能就会成为冠军。

13. So they suggest setting aside a few minutes each day for daydreaming.

所以他们建议每天抽出几分钟时间做白日梦。
set aside: to save for a special purpose 留出，积攒，省出
例：He side aside some time to see his parents every month.他每月抽出时间去看父母。
They've set aside the whole weekend for househunting.他们把这个周末留出去找房子。
I have a little money set aside for our holiday.我攒了一点钱留在我们假期用。

Who knows＝possibly，perhaps
例：You can't be too careful while driving.Who knows,accidents may happen any time on the street.驾车时你再小心也不过分。谁知道呢，在这条路上车祸随时都会发生。
