1. It was the end of my exhausting first day as waitress in a busy New
York restaurant.
as与like辨析:
as以……
He works as an interpreter.
He works as a pilot.
like介词,意为in the manner of,即像……

2. Weary and discouraged, I didn't seen
able to do anything right.
Because I was weary and
discouraged…"。

the doctor before the arranged date.

dozen times, I was ready to quit.
He caught sight of her as she was getting off the train.

heavier and heavier.

reluctantto give our fellows the warm sunshine of praise.
Are we too quick to blame and slow to qraise?
We are too apt to over look our own faults.
5. why-when one word could bring such
pleasure?
why-破折号后面省略了are we so reluctant to give our fellows the warm sunshine
of praise?
6. It's strange how chary we are about
praising.
It+系动词+形容词/名词+wh/how/that从句例:It is doubtful whether he paid back the money.
It is important that he brought back the books to the library before August

(3) in which effort generally goes unnoticed or unmentioned:是先行词area的定语unnoticed和unmentioned在句中起主语补足语的作用,是用来说明动作发生时主语的情况或所处的状态,不是用来修饰谓语动词的。
